Our Inspiration

During a summer family trip back to my birthplace, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, my dad and godmother immersed us into the island's vibrant culture. The flavors of the food and our beloved bush tea lingered in my memory when we returned to South Carolina. I began researching where to find Bush tea locally, sparking the realization of a fantastic business concept. Two years later, that idea blossomed into a lifestyle brand celebrating the stories of our beloved islands.

The Lowcountry and various island cultures have been deeply shaped by the influence of the African Diaspora. At Eradise, we aim to encapsulate the diverse range of scents inspired by this heritage by expanding to encompass fragrances and visuals across our product range. Authentic storytelling rooted in the genuine experiences holds significant importance to us.

What kinds of waxes are typically used in candles?

The primary candle wax used widely is paraffin, while beeswax, soy wax, palm wax, gels, and synthetic waxes are also common choices. At Eradise, we utilize soy wax in our candles.

How long should I burn a candle

Each candle has its own maximum burn times, hence its crucial to adhere to our candle-specific instructions. If the flame approaches the candle holder or container, always extinguish the candle. To ensure safety, cease burning a candle when there's 2 inches of wax left (1/2 inch for container candles or jar candles).

Are scented candles triggers for asthma or allergies?

While most people use scented candles without issue, there's a chance that certain fragnances could cause adverse reactions in a small number individuals. Those with known fragrance sensitivities might consider avoiding candles with those scents. Additionally, it's advisable for consumers to burn all candles, scented or unscented in a well-ventilated spaces.

Is candle soot harmful?

No. The tiny amount of soot created by candles results from incomplete combustion, primarily comprising elemental carbon particles. This soot resembles the residue produced by kitchen toasters and cooking oils, which are everyday household sources and not considered harmful. It differs chemically from the soot emitted by fuels like diesel, coal, or gasoline.

To reduce candle soot, follow these steps: Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each use for an optimal flame height, position the candle away from drafts to prevent flickering, and ensure the wax pool remains debris-free.Sent from my iPhone
